    Dear all,
Long time no see, everyone. My law school recently has assigned me a research paper on Chinese law. However, I have no idea how to start it. Starting from today, I will share my experience of doing this research project from the start to the end.

I would like to invite you all assisting me at the early starting point. I have some ideas on investigating some sorts of Chinese law. Here is my idea.

I want to do the following areas:
    1. sources of law (e.g. law making procedure, interpretation, case law...)
    2. constitution (e.g. communist perspective on constitution, basic structure of PRC constitution, political structure...)
    3. legal prefession (e.g. development of law profession in PRC, regulation, legal aid...)
    4. family law, equality law and adminstrative law (e.g. administrative law, marrigage law and gender equality)

All now I can think of is these area. Unfortunately, I can NOT think of ANY interesting research question on these areas. Up to now, I can only think of a research question "Does China have governmental commission that promote or monitor the situtation of gender equality such as the Commission of Equal Opportunity in Hong Kong?", which I think it is not worth doing.

So here I would like to invite everyone can contribute his or her ideas on the research topics on the above-mentioned areas or something that is worth studying, or you are wellcome to modify my research topic I can think of.

I appreciate all contribution not only to me but also others' knowledge on Chinese law. Thank you.

    Cheers,
    Edward.

    Hi all,
Btw, I will not use exact wordings of any of the research questions that all of you suggested but you are wellcomed to contributing for writing down what interesting research topics you think are on any of these area or other sorts of areas of Chinese law. I treat this thread a 'think tank' so that I can activate my brain when doing my research paper.

    Thanks,
    Edward.

    Hi Ed,

So you are still on the stage of deciding which direction to go? Generally speaking I very doubt that there is any equality law, at least statutory base, in mainland China. I am not an expert in Chinese law but I, too, have interests in China and Hong Kong laws, so perhaps I might be able to brain storm some ideas. Well, but please don't expect much.

    Cheers

    Re Henry,
I am now writing about reinterpretation of chinese new marriage law, which deal with the issues of matrimonial home affairs. Would you mind giving me some ideas with authority (newspapers is ok)?

    Cheers,
    Edwards.
