Nottingham Trent University’s Distance Learning Law Program was designed to allow those who could not find the time to regularly attend law school, to study on their time and at their own pace to earn an LLB (Hons) Law Degree. This four or five year track undergraduate program also offers a Qualifying Law Degree for professional usage and many students go on successfully to the first stage of Professional Training, the Legal Practice Course or the Bar Vocational Course.

The entry requirements tend to be extremely flexible as they are taken into consideration on an individual basis, which is suitable for those without a legal background. The formal entry requirements consist of one of the following:

Five GCE/GCSE passes, two at the Advanced level
Four GCE/CGSE passes, three at the Advanced level
    An appropriate Access course
    A degree in another discipline
    BTEC National/Higher Certificate or Diploma

However, if you are a quick learner age twenty-one or higher and you can convince the University of your ability to successfully complete the program, there are no formal entry requirements. If you currently hold a non-law degree, you may take the Graduate Diploma in Law (CPE) two-year course which will exclude you from a selection of stages of the professional qualifying exams.

Successful completion of the program in four years requires students to focus on three subjects per year over a four year period. If you wish to provide for more flexibility, you may focus on two subjects per year over a five year period to complete the program. If you are lucky enough to have previously studied Law at the University Level you may be able to receive exclusions from compulsory elements of the degree program, allowing you to skip one to two years of the program.

The 2009-2010 fees for the four year course (three subjects per year) is £2,850 per year. If you decide to choose the five year program, the fees are £1,900 for the first three years and £2,850 for years four and five. The fees include tuition, learning materials, online support, registration, exam fees and all residential costs at leading Nottingham hotels and meals during four scheduled tutorial weekends. Fees may be paid in full at the beginning of the term or in up to three installments at no additional charge. There is no application fee to apply to the program, but an advanced payment of £200 is required upon acceptance into the program. This fee ensures you receive your learning materials a month before courses begin and the advanced payment is credited towards fees.

Given that Nottingham Law School is one of the largest full service law schools in the UK, it is no wonder their students receive a high quality and sensible legal education. Nottingham University has set itself apart due to the immense support students receive through every stage of their legal training. Nottingham University’s reputation and innovative approach to learning translates highly to their graduates as they are extremely preferred and renowned for the depth and significance of education.
