Northumbria University’s long distance LLB honors learning programme is designed so as to offer students a qualifying degree that will enable them to bypass the academic component of legal education, so as to practice as a solicitor or barrister. After completing the LLB programme, it is possible to apply for and subsequently enrol in the LPC course which fulfills the vocational requirement necessary for solicitors, or in the BVC course which is for barristers.

The flexibility offered by participating in Northumbria’s University law progamme is not to be downplayed. As a participant in the course programme, you are able to complement a degree through a long distance programme of between 4 and 6 years. This will give you the freedom to continue employment so that you can pay your fees, or to work from home while you are caring for your children. The ability to participate in a flexible module at the hours that you are available is priceless.

In fact, the programme was specifically designed so as to encourage wider participation from those who are not traditionally qualified by their education. In order to be accepted to participate in the programme, applicants must demonstrate that they have the commitment and the high self-motivation and accompanying discipline to complete this programme from afar. If English is not your first language, you are required to demonstrate competency in English. Additionally, a letter of reference is required accompanying your application. As far as fees go, the fees are low for home students: they are just under £1000 per year or £310 per module.

The programme revolves around modules that include following subjects: English Legal System, European Union Law, Tort Law, Contract, and Criminal Law. This is only a sampling of the coursework you will participate in as a student at Northumbria Law University. You also, in addition to your required modules are allowed to select from several other options for supplementary coursework. Because the coursework is so flexible, it is even possible to delay the modules after your fourth year into the fifth (or later) years.

The other focus of the programme at Northumbria is to develop student-centred learning, wherein students hone their study skills. Your critical thinking skills, your ability to argue, your self-discipline and self-motivation will all grow as a result of your engagement in this process.
If you are interested in registering, consider exploring the website a bit or ringing the office. There are numbers provided for both UK/EU students and International Applicants. You may apply online or apply by post. Everything is conveniently located on the site for you to explore at your convenience. Just as in the programme, the application process is easy to use and engage in.

A law degree opens many routes that would not have otherwise been available to you. Consider adding this degree to your arsenal today. A large world of possibilities will open up once you have completed the programme. You will also work with colleagues from around the world and thus gain from their experience and expertise
