Thread: Father's rights in divorce situation

In the US, where I am from, it is difficult for a father to obtain sole custody of his child or children in cases of divorce. Is it also this way in Britain? I'm curious because the law in America clearly favors the mother over the father but I know that sometimes the man is a better provider and safer option for the children.

I always thought in cases like this they asked the children who they would rather live with. I think the parents income and ability to provide for the children financially and emotionally is what is taken into consideration. Not all mothers are fit to raise their children solely.

I would agree-- the situations in the US where fathers were able to obtain custody of the child tended to be places where the mother was not at all fit to raise the child in any way, shape, or form.
